Dec. 12:  We stayed at a nice KOA in Holbrook, AZ north of Phoenix.  Still snowy and cold.  We keep the slides in when it's cold to contain the heat, but it makes it rather difficult to cook a decent meal; so we set off by foot to find an eatery.  MAYBE NOT!   Only place close was a Burger King.  Back to coach for soup and salad.  A minor problem occurred in the morning while lifting the hydraulic jacks--one of the four pads actually froze to the ground!  Corky had to chip it out before it would lift.  We are convinced this is a warm weather vehicle!!!!!!

Another little problem occured when we stopped for gas.  There was a sheet of ice at the gas pump right where we had to park for fuel.  As we started to leave the pump area we began sliding backward and sideways--NOT A GOOD FEELING!   After sliding about 20 feet we hit dry pavement and could get some traction.  WHEW!  Off we go!  The following photos show our descent into the valley.  It was SOOOOO nice to get out of the snow.

The trip took about 3 hours to get to Chandler, where we parked in front of Steve's and Kimm's for the weekend.
We parked just ahead of the big overhanging tree branch.

On Saturday we all trooped to the Bass Pro Shops for a visit with SANTA!

On Sunday we researched potential campsites and opted for the Usery Mountain County Park in Mesa, just west of the Superstition Mountains.  We'll stay until Christmas Eve when we'll return to Chandler for 2 nights so we'll be right there when Jenna awakes on Christmas Day.

All for now.  It's raining here today; will make for messy setting up camp.  Oh well, so much better than snow!
