Happy Ground Hog Day Everyone!

I've read where Punxatawny (sp) Phil has predicted an early spring---RIGHT!  We certainly hope that those of you who had to endure the ravages of the huge monster winter storm the local meterologists were ranting over made it through without any major problems.  We caught some rather chilly night-time temperatures--it's actually 32 degrees as I write this.

I've posted a few more photos on our Google Picasa site--pics of Haley at her orchestra recital and some of former co-workers Tony Carrow and Steve Hanson and our Oakes folks.

We had a "who'd a thunk it" episode on Monday afternoon--while shopping for a portable gas grill (Corky has a yen for grilled steak--imagine that!), we saw a familiar looking face at the checkout counter.  We looked at her, then looked at each other and thought "she looks a lot like Corky's cousin from Oakes, Barb Harris; naaah, it couldn't be her!"  So we continued on our way--parked only two spaces from our car was a car with a North Dakota plate.  Corky whirled around and sure enough, it was Barb!   What a coincidence.  Anyway we spent happy hour with Barb & Doug at their home (only 10 minutes from Palm Creek) and had a fun dinner with them at a local sports bar/grill.  Barb told us about several other Oakes folks who winter at this same Park; we caught up with Garth Zieman who plays organ for Sunday services at Mom's nursing home; Corky went to school with Garth's nephews.

Today we plan to continue our search for a gas grill in Chandler; we'll spend some time with the kids this afternoon and take them out for dinner.

All for now.
